Guar: A resilient and versatile crop

Alternative crops has been under the spotlight for sometime, specifically commodities that require fewer inputs, especially water,  as well as commodities that are resilient. A big driver for this is climate change causing severe weather conditions. South Africa is predicted to become hotter and drier with increasing drought occurrences. Diversifying crops also helps hedge production risks and has other benefits such as increased soil health, fewer pests and more pollinators.
