Kenya's herders swap livestock for chillies as drought bites

As a mean to secure income whilst enhancing their resilience to drought conditions many former herders in Kenya have started to grow chillies. The FAO assisted in negotiating a three-year agreement between 200 farmers and the Italian company, La Fattoria. Farmers receive extension support as well as an agreed on income for their produce.
