Western Cape agriculture under threat

The Western Cape agriculture sector is said to brace itself for increased heat, water stress on crops and livestock, and droughts as a result of climate change. The Western Cape government together with UCT developed the SmartAgri project, a long-term climate change response strategy. SmartAgri provides detailed scenarios and response proposals to mitigate the impact of extreme weather events on the province's agriculture sector.
