Invite: South African Food Loss and Waste Voluntary Agreement l 09 - 11 March 2020 l Cape Town
The Consumer Goods Council of South Africa will be hosting a three day event with GreenCape, in partnership with the Western Cape Government Department of Economic Development and Tourism, to introduce the concept of food loss and waste to farmers, to provide an update to the South African Waste Voluntary Agreement for various stakeholders along the food value chain, and to facilitate a workshop on the food loss and waste accounting and reporting.
The first task for signatories will be to develop a food loss and waste baseline. To achieve this, signatories will be required to implement the World Resource Institute's food loss and waste accounting and reporting standard [Click]. This is a globally recognised standard for collecting and measuring food loss and waste. A handful of South Africa's largest food retails have already begun their journey towards food loss and waste accounting and reporting [Click].
