Energy
Energy has been a big talking point in South Africa the last couple of years, especially around the issues of electricity and load shedding. Lack of energy on farms can cost a farmer dearly. Energy shortages on a farm can have big cost implications.
This section aims to give farmers a sense of the benefits of investing in energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions to help them plan for the future.
Becoming more energy efficient (doing more with less) means you save on your electricity bill. We present questions you can ask yourself to help you consider the amount of energy you use and we provide general tips on saving electricity.
We also present options relating to renewable energy solutions for the agriculture sector, and the steps to take before installing certain energy solutions.
We also provide a few case studies to show some of the installations already made in the agriculture sector and what the benefits are.
